Abu Dhabi Opens Registration for Marine Heritage Festival

The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has announced the opening of registration for participation in the 43-foot traditional dhow races and the Buraka Boom sailing race, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. The event is part of the fifth edition of the Marine Heritage Festival.

The festival will take place from November 7 to 16 in the Al Dhafra region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and several partners.

The club explained in a statement yesterday that the 43-foot traditional dhow race will be held on either November 8 or 9, with the final date to be announced after monitoring the weather conditions. The Buraka Boom race will be held on November 15 or 16, pending the final date confirmation.

The organizers highlighted that these events are among the most prominent heritage festivals in the country, combining traditional sea races with community and cultural activities, embodying the authenticity of the UAE's maritime heritage and the history of ancestors on the shores of Al Dhafra. They called on boat owners and skippers to register through the club's official platforms to ensure participation.

«This festival is an annual event that sea lovers eagerly await for what it embodies of heritage and national identity values,» said Khalifa Al Rumithi, Director of Heritage Races at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. «We will continue our commitment to organizing heritage races that strengthen the new generation's connection to their ancestors' heritage and cement the status of Al-Sili as a distinguished maritime destination on the map of national events».
